New Noise Hip Hop is pleased to be bringing forth the official video for the song “Dikembe” by rapper Coyote Lee. The 22 year old rapper/singer is from Baltimore, Maryland and catching a lot of acclaim for the new song. The video, which can be viewed below, is shot in a black & white palette, giving the song’s emotional weight a heavier frame.
“Dikembe” is a depiction of Coyote Lee’s stream of consciousness. Dikembe finds Coyote Lee in a state of self reflection – evaluating past decisions, intentions, and relationships.
Coyote Lee is a 22 year old singer/rapper, born and raised on the east side of Baltimore. He now resides in Harlem, NY.
From a young age Coyote Lee was attracted to performing and creating music. His earliest memory of singing was at the age of 4 after his mothers radio was stolen from her car. For months the only entertainment they could enjoy while driving around Baltimore were the songs him and his mother would sing together.
Realizing his passion for music Lee auditioned for Baltimore School of the Arts (Tupac, Jada Pinkett, Tracie Thoms, Christian Siriano, etc.) where he was accepted and attended all 4 years of high school. Here he studied classical voice, and developed voice manipulation techniques he still uses today. After high school, Lee attended Shenandoah Conservatory University to study classical voice further. This is where he decided his love for hip hop could be a career and ultimately parted ways with the school to begin creating his own music.
His music is heavily influenced by his classical roots coupled with his appreciation for the likes of artist such as Childish Gambino, Anderson Paak and Frank Ocean.
